New Macs Are Coming. Get in the Know Without Information Overload!
For many months now there have been ongoing rumors about the coming of a new apple computer, more specifically a new apple laptop.
Speculations that range from minor changes to a radical redesign in the current Macbook and/or Macbook Pro lines, like the inclusion of a glass trackpad, or multi-touch iphone-like enabled screen. Anyway, it doesn't matter what everybody might speculate out there, what matters is that all this rumble is a sign of the imminent.
Yes, a new apple laptop -or maybe even all of the other apple computers also- is coming, and it is coming soon.
However Apple has always been one of the most secretive companies in the technology industry, always keeping any important information concerning new products or updates to current ones in almost total secret until their release.
And this is what this page is all about, a collection of rumors, facts and anything related to the coming of the new apple computer -or computers-. And as usual I'll summarize whatever I find trying to avoid the irrelevant information -specially all the technical bits-
So feel free to check the latest news and rumors about the soon-to-come new apple laptop -or any new apple computer- and check for updates often!
And if you just don't feel like coming back to check again and again why don't you subscribe to the

December 13 - Apple Working on 3D Desktop
Recent patents from Apple reveal that they are working on a 3D desktop interface. Whether this is planned for future versions of Mac OS, for the upcoming Snow Leopard, or even for other kind of device it is not yet known.
You can check an in depth version of this article on AppleInsider if you want far more detailed explanations and more pics.
But as you might guess a patent filing is just that, and idea so we don't even know if it will ever see the light of day at all. However it's nice to know the guys at Apple are not sitting comfortably with the success of OS X and that they keep striving to give us ever better experiences. It's part of their way of thinking.
October 12 - Some Pics and a Might-Actually-be-Real Video of the New Macbooks
Well, this will be the last post before Apple's Notebook event this Tuesday and will also be one of the last posts on this new-macs-facts-and-rumors page for the time being, since once the new Macbooks are announced and released, there will be very little new to report about them.
But fear not, the page will stay for any new announcement to come, and of course if you are subscribed to my Apple Computers Blog -BTW you should- you will be the first one to know the moment I post any update -like the new Macbook reviews as soon as they come out for example- not only here but on any other page on Apple Computers Guide and Advice.
In the meantime, here are the pics of the said-to-be new Macbooks..
I know they look messy, but you know I'm no pro when it comes to this stuff :)
And here is a video of the supposedly new Macbook, isn't it odd that they covered some parts of it? and also that they won't show it from the side? ...mmm....me wonders.....
That's it, now the only thing left is to wait -in the most agonizingly way for me BTW-
See you in a couple of days..
October 12 - The Spotlight Turns to Notebooks: Apple Announces it's much-anticipated Notebook Media Event
October 14th... Just a couple of days from now. That is the day Apple has chosen to unveil it's new Macbook line. One funny thing about this couldn't-come-soon-enough announcement is that it comes after many online sources started even questioning it's existence.
Well, the event is pretty much alive and if rumors are true -check below on our September 22 post for details-, it will mean many firsts for Apple Laptops, like new materials, a new manufacturing process, and the much-anticipated return of the sub - $1000 Macbook.
And of course, me among many others expect some surprise announcement from the never-predictable Apple's CEO Steve Jobs. You never know, you know?
So let's all keep hopes high and expectations low, there is a lot of stuff coming but for now make sure to check back in the next days for our mandatory one page review of Apple's Macbook event.
October 11 - So it Looks Like We Finally Know What 'The Brick' is..
Finally, after a few days of an unrelenting flood of rumors about what the now-popular Apple's Brick is, it seems to be an agreement and it turned out to be something quite different to what early rumors reported.
Instead of early reports suggesting that Apple's Brick was the much expected Mac Tablet, it seems that the popular brick is a new manufacturing process implemented by Apple itself where the cases of their computers are carved straight from an aluminum brick via lasers and water jets.
Yeah, I know it sounds a bit crazy and that it doesn't seem to have anything to with us, the regular -or soon to be regular ;D- user, but it actually does.
You see, with this new technology implemented in its manufacturing process, Apple would achieve two very important things:
1.- Stop it's computer manufacture outsourcing, thus taking complete control of the manufacturing process and by that being able to set and better control and analyze it's own prices and deadlines.
2.- Being the only computer manufacturer in the industry who pioneers this process would give Apple a tremendous advantage when it comes to product design and innovation.
And by that, the ones who will see all the benefits are us, the final customers when we finally get cheaper Macbooks, iMacs and other Apple products with state of the art designs that will not be rivaled by any other computer manufacturer.
So this one looks pretty much a given and it might be announced this October 14th when Apple's Notebook Event takes place.
Now, does this mean that there will not be any Mac tablet in the near future? Well, personally I don't think so, since just the existence of the multi-touch interface is enough to give us a glimpse of what is coming, so stick around for this 14th Apple's Notebook Event and for my thoughts on a Mac Tablet -yeah I will post them, I'm of the stubborn kind, what can I do- shortly afterwards.
I'll see you around..
October 5 - Is a New Kind of Apple Computer Secretly Planned for Release? What is Apple's so-named 'The Brick'?
This one is kind of strange, and many would think that is totally off the charts or that I simply lost it. And under any other circumstances I think I would believe so also, but the even stranger thing about this is that there actually is some evidence and context to back it.
But lets organize the facts here. What all this fuss is about is that while everybody is waiting for the soon-to-come-but-not-announced-yet day in which Apple will unveil the new apple laptop models, rumors say that everybody might be up for quite a surprise since a totally different Apple Computer known so far only as "The Brick" would also make its appearance.
Here is a one-paragraph summary of what we know so far:
This new Apple Computer would be the size of a tablet, -smaller footprint than a laptop- would have a Solid State Hard Drive like the ones used in the iPhone, iPod Touch and Nano, would also feature very extensive wireless capabilities -for data sharing, synchronization and connecting to the internet- and would have a multi-touch display.
The main purpose of this device would be the ability to 'carry everything with you' -as sources say- not been such a burden as a laptop but at the same time not being constrained by the size and 'adapted' OS of an iPhone while offering the same level of interface capabilities and functionality of a fully featured Mac.
This New Apple Computer -code named 'The Brick' BTW- is consistent with the announcement Apple made earlier this year stating that a 'product transition' in the 4th quarter of the year would squeeze the company's margins almost to it's limits -which can mean high production costs and a very aggressive and affordable price-
No need to say, you have to take this with a HUGE grain of salt, but lots of hope also. A small-sized fully-functional Mac tablet would be an extremely welcome product not only among fans -count me in- but also among everyday users who might be already familiar with the iPhone's functionality.
I have some extra thoughts on this that I would really like to share with you, in my case, the only thing that stops me from drooling like a baby with these news is that I just don't want to put my hopes to high. It's not the first time comments like this arise on the net, but never have they been so strong.
What do you think?
And whether this is true or not the idea of such device itself has a lot of potential. So check in the next days for my full opinion -and rants ;)- on this 'Brick'
September 24 - Fake Macbook Pro Pics
The German site T-systems posted this photo of the Macbook Pro on their website catalog:
As you can see while the Macbook Pro on the left is the one we all know, the one on the right has this black 'frame' that resembles the
iMac line.
Well, this little image caused a lot of excitement all over the web since many thought it was a leaked photo of the soon-to-come new Macbook Pro, but it turned out it was just a mockup that the person responsible for updating the product page found on the internet and decided to post it having no idea of how much confusion he would cause.
The image has been replaced of course, but this is a good example of how high expectations are for Apple's new Macbook and the new Macbook Pro.
And while new updates come why not check out my reviews on the current lines of
Macbook
and
Macbook Pro.
Both excellent machines and now at excellent prices.
September 22 - What We Know So Far....
Well not much, but enough at the same time. There have been enough rumors and speculation to be certain that at least a new apple macbook and a new apple macbook pro are on their way, here is what we know about them so far:
Aluminum Casing
This one might not be that new for the Macbook Pro line but now also the new Macbooks are rumored to sport brand new aluminum casings and both the new Macbooks and the new Macbook Pros will sport a super slim profile with rounded shapes much a la Macbook Air. Nice!
Clandestine pics from the New Macbook aluminum case
..and this is a pic of the bottom part of the New Macbook Pro case
LED backlit display
LED displays offer better contrast, image quality and color saturation, aside from being able also to boot to full brightness from the get-go and to be big power savers. All of that without counting that LED displays are environmentally friendly.
Apple already uses this kind of displays on its Macbook Pro line so this is pretty much a given.
Lower prices?
This rumor has been wildly spread all over the net. It seems that indeed the new Macbooks will come in new lower prices that will make them accessible to even more people. Take this one with a grain of salt, because even if there is some evidence to support it -Apple said they would see less profits by the end of the year because of a new product launch- you never know with something as time-sensitive and that is so tied to both production and shipping costs.
Well that aside, this would be great, more people like you and me with Macs. And this would finally mean Apple's entrance into the sub $1000 notebook market. Lets hope together for this one.
October 14th: The Chosen Date?
All evidence and rumor on almost every single Apple-related website points to an October 14th event -very similar to the Lets Rock iPod event this past September 9- in which all the new Macbooks and Macbook Pros will be revealed and released.
The event hasn't been confirmed yet, but if past similar rumors are any indication, this date might be pretty accurate. Lets hope so because as for me, I can't wait.
